Jennifer Langridge is principal cello of the Northern Chamber Orchestra, Head of Strings Chamber Music and Professor of Cello at the Royal Northern College of Music. She lives in Manchester.

For 30 years, until 2023, Jennifer was principal cello of Psappha Ensemble. The group toured to five continents performing and championing new music, featured regularly on BBC Radio 3 and made numerous CD recordings. Psappha Ensemble’s YouTube channel hosts more than 300 films of their live concerts. Jen often performed as soloist with Psappha, most notably at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, playing Maxwell Davies, ‘Linguae Ignis’ for Solo Cello and Ensemble.

Jen was a member of the Victoria String Quartet until 2024, with VSQ she recorded and toured extensively around the UK and at home in Manchester, performing in venues such as The Stoller Hall and the Bridgewater Hall.
She was a member of the BBC Philharmonic for 10 years until 2018 and has worked as guest principal for orchestras such as the Hallé, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Opera North and Manchester Camerata.

Jen is married to timpanist and percussionist, Tim Williams and has two sons who are both making their own way in the music business.
