Saturday 21 March 7.30pm | The Heritage Centre, Macclesfield
Sunday 22 March 3.00pm | The Stoller Hall, Manchester
Pianist Benjamin Powell joins the Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO) in Manchester and Macclesfield this March, to play Shostakovich’s Concerto for piano, trumpet and string orchestra. The piece, the composer’s first piano concerto, sees the trumpet (played by featured soloist Tom Osborne) in frequent dialogue with the piano. Also on the programme are Tchaikovsky’s Elegy, an arrangement of Handel’s Violin Sonata in D by the NCO’s composer in residence James Manson, and two Mozart Divertimentos: K138 in F and K251 in D. Benjamin Powell is resident pianist at Manchester’s contemporary Psappha ensemble, and Tom Osborne is assistant principal trumpet at The Hallé. The NCO are thrilled to be teaming up with these renowned Manchester-based soloists for this exciting concert.
Tickets are available now, starting at £13, with free or discounted tickets for students and under 18s. Visit www.ncorch.co.uk for tickets.
