Around the World:

Session length: half day in total

A musical journey ‘Around the World’ with a 50 minute concert given by an NCO string trio, followed by a one hour interactive Creative Music Class.


Junk Percussion:

SambaSession length: half day

A Junk percussion workshop with drain pipes, frisbees, bins, saucepans…brought to your school by NCO’s Percussionist.

Bamboo Tampoo (the precursor to the steel pans) – Session length for one class only: 1 hour

A workshop combining African djembe drumming and samba traditions with traditional Caribbean songs and movement – using bamboo tampoo sticks.

*This session is suitable for Key Stages 1 and 2: one class at a time.

* Session length for more than one class: half day total


BBC Ten Pieces

Session length: half day minimum

Workshops exploring some of the national BBC Ten Pieces Schools Programme. 

Live performances from NCO players and workshop activities based around, for example, Mozart Rondo and Beethoven 5 and a body-percussion piece inspired by Anne Meredith’s work, Connect It – whereby participants can learn to create a new body-percussion piece for performance (e.g. for the rest of the school/ parents).

Bespoke Projects:

We can deliver cross-curricular projects on bespoke themes.  These could, for example, bring together music composition, drama, history and art or other combinations of subject areas.

We can also develop projects based on a particular piece of music, such as Saint-Saëns  Carnival of the Animals.
