• Are you looking for a professional chamber ensemble for your musical society?

• Are you seeking a top professional orchestra to accompany your choir?

• Are you seeking a top professional orchestra to perform for a fundraising concert, for example at a firework concert?

• Do you want an exciting programme for your Festival?

LOOK NO FURTHER!

  • The Northern Chamber Orchestra has the expertise, experience and versatility to match your requirements – and all at top quality.
  • On the concert platform, the NCO typically comprises between 16 and 20 players (depending on repertoire) and is directed from the violin by Nicholas Ward.
  • At the annual Buxton Festival, where the NCO is ‘Orchestra in Residence’, they demonstrate their versatility by playing for the main opera productions (with 40 – 45 players), presenting one or two NCO concerts (12 – 18 players), as well as providing musicians for education projects (5 – 15 players);
  • For outdoor fireworks concerts this may be larger still, increasing to approximately 50 if required.
  • On the smaller scale, the NCO musicians perform in smaller groups as NCO Soloists;  the ensembles under this banner include the NCO String Quartet and String Quintet (very popular with Music Societies), NCO Wind Ensemble and NCO Brass.
  • The NCO is very experienced at accompanying choral societies and working with their conductors.
  • The NCO is happy to incorporate the work of living composers (both established and inexperienced) and always open to suggestions from promoters.  They also like to give opportunities to young soloists as well as enjoying working with the country’s top performers.
