NCO presents two contrasting musical interpretations of the Four Seasons – Vivaldi’s 1723 original, and Glass’ 2009 companion piece, performed by violinist Chloë Hanslip; an artist of great distinction on the international stage, equally at home with a large symphony orchestra or playing chamber music. Gramophone Magazine said of Chloë:
“There’s a wholly infectious conviction, spontaneity and panache about these superbly accomplished performances that lend them special distinction”
This concert relaunches our Mind Music campaign- a charitable campaign that will raise awareness and funds for dementia charities, including the Alzheimer’s Association and Parkinson’s UK. We will be joined in this concert by Mike Garry, a poet championed by Philip Glass, whose gritty poetry has won the admiration far and wide. Garry’s recent collaboration with Joe Duddell and New Order in New York’s Carnegie Hall received five star reviews.
Glass- Violin Concerto No 2 ‘The American Four Seasons’
